Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma (in photo) said here on Saturday that the state government has performed far better than the previous government in its one year tenure.
In an interaction with media, Sharma said the number of schools opened by the BJP government in just one year is three times that opened by the previous government in five years of rule. He said 37 new schools have been opened in minority-dominated localities in the previous one year with an objective to provide them quality education.

Comparing achievements of the current BJP government in education with the previous government, Sharma said only 48 new schools were opened in five years of SP rule while the Yogi government has established 148 Deendayal Upadhyay Model Schools in one year.
“These schools are equipped with WiFi, smart classes and other resources of modern education. So we are trying to provide modern and high tech education to the students at par with other public schools,” he said, adding that 25 new schools would be opened in the state soon.
The Dy CM was here on Saturday to attend some programmes. At a seminar of teachers he appealed to them to extend their support in providing the best possible education to students in the state.
Sharma said they have recruited more teachers than their predecessors. Altogether 5696 posts have been created in comparison to 1184 posts in 5 years tenure of the previous government for teaching and non teaching-staff in schools, he said. Sharma said the examination policy and Fee Act for public schools have received appreciation from different sections of society and the media, including foreign media.
Sharma said district magistrates and education officers have been instructed to identify and prepare a list of those schools which were involved in cheating so that they could be debarred from the list of examination centres and action cane be taken. He said the calendar for schools is ready and hoped that board exams would be conducted on time.
The deputy CM claimed that education, health and security are the top priorities of the Yogi government and the CM himself monitors issues related to them.
