Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with farmers across the country through video link. The Prime Minister took questions from farmers and elaborated on what his government was doing for the welfare of the farming sector.
The PM interacted with farmers from nearly 600 districts. He said that his government was working to ensure that the income of the farmers double by 2022.

On organic farming:
He said under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the premium has been lowered and the scope of insurance widened. “Soil health cards have been introduced to ensure that the land remains fertile and also that the spending on manure is reduced,” the PM said.
On agriculture insurance:

“I always encourage farmers to adopt drip irrigation system. This would help in reducing the burden that our farmers have to face in irrigating their crop land,” Modi added. “Per drop, more crop should be our motto,” he said.
