Haryana Police’s drive against traffic violators from today

To improve traffic situation, Haryana Police will launch a month-long special drive from June 1, 2018, to strictly deal with the traffic violators especially the motorists without helmets on the national highways in the state.

While stating this on Thursday, a spokesman of Police Department said that in compliance of the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court, all kinds of traffic violators especially the motorists without helmets would be sensitized to abide by the traffic rules while being on roads in the state.

Those male or female motorists, who would ride a two-wheeler without a helmet, including pillion-riders and triple riders, would face challans including suspension of their driving licenses under the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act.

Apart from this, Police will also lay special emphasis on penalising the triple riding, which considers as one of the main causes of fatal accidents and fatalities.

The spokesman said that 24 traffic police stations have been set up to regulate the traffic situation in the state. Besides this, six new traffic police stations would soon come up in the state’s jurisdiction on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) and Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) highways, one each in district of Sonipat, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal and Faridabad to regulate traffic on the expressway.

He said all the traffic incharges have been directed to spread awareness about traffic norms and strict enforcement of the rules to regulate traffic. The Deputy Inspector General, traffic, Rakesh Arya said police would also make sure the documentation of traffic offences in the form of photographs and videography would be done to be presented to the High Court as evidence and to ensure strict legal action.
