Rohit Shetty hints at ‘Lady Singham’ spin-off, calls Meenamma his favorite
Rohit Shetty teases a Lady Singham spin-off with Deepika Padukone while reminiscing about her iconic role as Meenamma in 'Chennai Express'.
Deepika Padukone who left everyone surprised with her acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is yet to sign a new film. Her last film, Padmaavat, crossed the Rs 500-crore mark worldwide, but she is in no hurry to sign her next project.
Deepika was supposed to start working on a Vishal Bhardwaj directorial but owing co-star Irrfan Khan’s ill health, the project is on hold. Speculations are rife on why Deepika has not given her nod to any other film.

While some believe that it’s her shoulder and neck injuries that are keeping her away from signing any new film, others are guessing that Deepika is planning to tie the knot to her rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh.
However, according to a Deccan Chronicle report, she is being selective about the roles she wants to play from now.

Quoting a source, the report said, “Her back and neck problem is being properly attended to and she will be fine soon. As for marriage plans, they in no way impinge on her career. The reason Deepika is not signing anything new is that of the quality of roles coming her way. She is being approached for big-banner films opposite top actors. However, none of the offers are even remotely as author-backed or inspiring as Padmaavat, her last film. She is eager to push the envelope and is no longer happy playing the conventional leading lady.”
Recently, Deepika came back from Cannes Film Festival where she turned every head, including that of Ranveer Singh who went gaga on social media over her style statement.
