On the International Nurses Day, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that her govt has set up new Nursing Training Schools with a view to increasing the number of trained nurses.
Banerjee in a tweet said, “Today is International Nurses Day. Our Government in #Bengal has set up new Nursing Training Schools with a view to increasing the number of trained nurses”.
The Bengal Government has set up partnerships with the UK Government for nursing skilling and re-skilling,” added Banerjee in her tweet.
International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world on 12 May each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society.
In January 1974, 12 May was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Each year, International Council of Nurses (ICN) prepares and distributes the International Nurses’ Day Kit. The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.
The ISN for International Nurses Day 2018 has chosen the theme “Nurses A Voice to Lead – Health is a human right”.
