Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan in Ram-Lakhan remake?

Subhash Ghai, who has directed many films like Taal, Khalyank and Pardes, recently attended the re-premiere of his hit film Ram Lakhan on Monday (May 7).

“There are many good actors in Bollywood, like Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan who can star in the remake of 1989 film Ram Lakhan,” the filmmaker told news agency PTI.

With the good actors, he said, the film would do well at the box office.

It was reported earlier that Rohit Shetty would helm the remake of the film and  Karan Johar would produced it. But the plot has been put on hold. Rohit had earlier said young stars were insecure about the two-hero film and most wanted to play the role of Lakhan (played by Anil Kapoor in the original) that portray the righteous Ram (played by Jackie Shroff).

Subhash Ghai, after the re-premiere of the film, took his feelings to Twitter and shared the picture. He wrote: “It was just nostalgic to re premier #RAM LAKHAN after 30 years yesterday on biggest screen of India @ MuktaA2 cinema new excelsior 600 seaters in mumbai when satish kaushik n Raza Murad spoke about their hilarious experiences during shoot of ram Lakhan n interacted with media.”

When asked about the remake of the film, Subhash Ghai said, “Everyone has their own set of reasons as each one of them wants to put their set forward. Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty are responsible people and are counted as the best directors. They are taking time but I know when they will make the film they will make it well.”

Ram Lakhan also starred Madhuri Dixit (opposite Anil Kapoor) and Dimple Kapadia (opposite Jackie Shroff), besides Rakhee, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik.
