Even before Rahul Gandhi could sound the 2019 Lok Sabha bugle with his party’s Jan Aakrosh Rally, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah claimed that the rally shows the “increasing irrelevance” of the Congress.
As the Congress president gears up to addresses thousands of supporters in New Delhi on Sunday, Shah took to Twitter to accuse the Congress of India-hatred, creating divisions and blocking development.
“A dynasty and their courtiers, who were sent out of state after state by ‘Jan Aadesh’ now pretend to represent ‘Jan Akrosh’,” wrote Shah targeting the 47-year-old Gandhi scion.
“Today’s Congress rally is nothing but a ‘Parivar Akrosh Rally’ which highlights their increasing irrelevance,” he added.
Reiterating the BJP’s repeated charge that Congress is “anti-India”, Shah alleged that people at the rally will see “abject India-hatred on display”.
“During today’s ‘Parivar Akrosh Rally’ you will see abject India-hatred on display. After all, the Congress cannot digest that 125 crore Indians have seen through their anti-development and highly divisive politics. Congress’ efforts to create divisions are fully exposed!” he wrote.
Shah exhorted the grand old party to learn the meaning of ‘Jan Akrosh’ from the results of the elections held in the past referring to the series of losses suffered by the Congress in various state elections.
“If the Congress wants to see ‘Jan Akrosh’ they should see the results of election after election, where their Party has been comprehensively defeated across the length and breadth of India,” wrote the 53-year-old leader.
“People are not tolerating Congress’ lies, empty promises, corruption and communalism,” he claimed.
Shah asked the Congress to respond on why they did not allow the Parliament to function.
“If the Congress really wants to know why is there Jan Akrosh, they should answer in today’s rally why did they disallow Parliament to function. They should answer why has the Congress prevented the formation of an OBC commission that gives justices to backward sections?” he asked.
“I also hope the Congress President apologizes to the nation for the Party’s efforts to trample over every possible institution in the country just because of their power hungry nature. The country is tired of these negative and arm twisting tactics of the Congress,” Shah wrote.
The Congress aims to target the ruling BJP-led NDA government at the Centre with the rally.
“Modi government has failed to give jobs to youth of the country for the last four years. Women have no safety. Farmers do not get the right price. Dalits and marginalised communities have no rights,” wrote Rahul Gandhi while urging supporters to participate in the rally in Ramlila Maidan.
