Khattar for spraying smart city roads with treated water

Haryana Chief Minister (CM), Manohar Lal Khattar has directed the officers to work on the modalities for spraying roads of the smart cities with the treated water of Sewerage Plants.

Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of smart cites of Faridabad, Karnal and Gurugram on Thursday, the CM said this spraying roads with treated water will help bring down the temperature during summer seasons and to remove the smog during winter season for the convenience of the people.

On a pilot basis, this project will be taken up on two roads which are to be developed as smart roads in the smart cities.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Executive Officer, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority apprised the CM that services like city surveillance and intelligent traffic management, smart water and sewer management, street lighting, solid waste management would be integrated under Integrated Command and Control Centre in the first phase to make Gurugram smartest among the smart cities.

For this, a plan for laying optical fibre cable network around 800 kilometers (kms) along arterial roads covering major traffic junctions and government building had been prepared.

This work on 100 kms would be completed in four months under a pilot project. After its success, the empanelled agency would have to take up all 800 kms and complete the same within one year. Process to provide facility of free public Wi-fi would be taken up once the optical fibre cable is laid, he added.

It was informed that in Faridabad, 68 smart projects worth Rs 2342
Crore would be implemented. Similarly, 58 smart projects costing Rs 1211 Crore would be implemented in Karnal.

These when implemented would improve the environment in these cities and also provide more leisure facilities.
