Samsung top pick for retail investors after US election
Retail investors scooped up 2.33 trillion won ($1.67 billion) worth of Samsung Electronics stocks since the U.S. presidential election, the country's main bourse said on Sunday.
Samsung’s latest offering, S9 Plus, is a good phone with many unique camera features and excellent design, but it is not good enough to compel its customer to switch from Galaxy S8 Plus to S9 Plus, suggests Rakesh Kumar.
Galaxy series of Samsung is the flagship device of the company. Therefore, whenever the mobile phone maker launches any device in this series, it creates a kind of buzz in the market.
This was again witnessed with Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, when the company came up with them last month.
The first impression of S9 Plus is that it looks much better and decent in design as compared to its predecessor, S8 Plus. Now, the big question is, what are the changes Samsung made in S9 or S9 Plus? The answer is: Not much.

Apart from camera and design, the S9 series has hardly made any upgrade in the devices. Therefore, if one is using S8, they don’t need to replace their phone.
Priced at Rs 64,999 the S9 Plus is a good phone with decent camera, fast performance, sleek design and excellent display but when it comes to battery it is very disappointing. Samsung should have worked here, especially when they have competition with giants like Google Pixel 2 and iphoneX.
Design and features
The first thing one would notice about the device is its design and on this front S9 Plus passes with distinction. The device has an aluminum body, looks quite compact and good in hand.
However, it looks shorter than S8 but retaines the same 6.2-inch screen. Which means, Samsung has cut down the size of bezels. In terms of display, the phone is equipped with AMOLED screen boosts Quad HD+ (2,960 x 1,440) resolution, cramming 529 pixels into every inch. In other words, the display is bright and colour production is quite good.
The power button is placed on the right edge of the phone and volume rocker is on the left edge. Below it is the Bixby button. The rear of the Galaxy S9 has dual camera at the top, with the flash to its right, and the bottom has a logo of Samsung.
The fingerprint sensor one can find below the camera, and is quite accessible and fast. The other features of the phone are its waterproof and dust-proof body, and stereo speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos.
Performance
The Galaxy S9 Plus runs on Android v8.0 (Oreo) operating system, has two Quad-Core (2.3GHz M2 Mongoose and 1.7GHz Cortex A53) processors and 6GB of RAM. The S9 Plus has a hybrid slot for dual SIM. One can use either dual SIM or a microSD card.
When it comes to performance, the phone hardly has any loopholes and it worked really fast without any glitches or snags.
Camera and battery
S9 Plus has a dual camera setup (12MP+12MP) for the main camera while it has 8MP selfie camera. As for quality, the pictures taken in broad daylight were sharp and full of details and colour accuracy. But in the dark, the pictures were a little fuzzy.
In terms of battery, the phone is equipped with 3,500mAh Li-ion battery. It supports fast charging but it drains very fast.
