Uttarakhand gets Deepam Seth as regular DGP after a year
Uttarakhand finally got its regular Director General of Police (DGP) after a gap of almost a year.
A record 54 legislators, including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh, have not submitted details about their assets in the Uttarakhand assembly so far.
The MLAs are required to furnish details about their property within three months after becoming member of the house. The Trivendra Rawat government makes big claim on fighting corruption, but the information obtained by a Kashipur based Right To Information (RTI) activists paints a sorry picture.
Only three of the ten cabinet ministers have submitted details. Even the nominated Anglo-Indian MLA G.I.G Mann has not considered it to deposit information about his property.

The long list is shocking as many first time MLAs like Ritu Khanduri, Vinod Kandari, Manoj Rawat, Saurav Bahuguna, etc decided to pay no attention to the norm and figure in the defaulters list.
Replying to a RTI query from Nadim Uddin , the Public Information Officer of the Uttarakhand Assembly Mukesh Singhal has furnished names of 54 MLAs.
Which includes most of the big names of Uttarakhand politics- Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, state agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal, state finance minister Prakash Pant, state urban development minister Madan Kausik, state education minister Arvind Pandey, Uttarakhand Congress president Pritam Singh, leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh, to mention a few.
The Trivendra government was voted to power last year. A big chunk of leaders have completely ignored the norm. In the 71 member assembly, with one nominated Anglo-Indian member, only a handful of members have honoured the rule of furnishing information. In fact only 17! Both BJP and Cong leaders treated the norm in the same way.
