The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a bunch of petitions challenging the Central Bureau of Secondary Education’s decision to conduct re-examination of Class 12 economics paper after the alleged paper leak.

The apex court has said that the decision on re-examination is up to the CBSE, and court can’t decide writ petition on the matter.

The board had announced a re-examination of the Class 12 economics paper on April 25. Initially, a re-examination for class mathematics 10 was also announced, but the board on Tuesday ruled out re-test for Class 10.

The examinations for the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economic papers had been held on March 28 and March 26, respectively.

The Delhi Police, which is investigating the matter, had registered two cases involving the leaks. Two teachers of a private Delhi school and a tutor at a private institute were arrested on Sunday over the paper leak even as one CBSE official found “lax” in the performance of duty was suspended from service.

Two accused, Rishabh, 29, and Rohit, 26, taught mathematics and physics, respectively, at Mother Khazani Convent School at Bawana. The third accused has been identified as Tauqeer.

Human Resource Development Ministry Secretary Anil Swarup had announced the suspension of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) official KS Rana and the institution of a formal inquiry against him.
