The Union health ministry had approved the project of more than Rs 150 crore in 2014 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna for the construction of the superspecificity wing.
The state health department would engage human resources and provide necessary equipment, it is learnt. The health department had given Rs 100 crore, while the state government has initially given Rs 30 crore for the plan.
Dr Bhowmik said that once operational, the centre with the state-of-theart facilities will offer specialised health treatments in the fields of plastic surgery, neuro surgery, advanced pediatric surgery, cardio thoracic and others.
It will also have a dedicated burn unit, and there will be advanced laboratories. “At least five to six new departments will come up at the centre, where there will be a number of beds and adequate manpower,” he said. The G+5 building is coming up on a 1500- square meter area, officials said.
