Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to Twitter to congratulate the winners and participants in the recently concluded ISSF World Cup held in Sydney, Australia.
In a series of tweets, the PM praised the achievements of the young shooters who represented India at the international stage. He also encouraged them to bring more glory to the country in the shooting arena.
He mentioned each of the nine shooters individually – Arjun Babuta, Elavenil Valarivan, Vivaan Kapoor, Manu Bhaker, Gaurav Rana, Anmol, Anish, Muskan and Ganemat Sekhon.
“In the recently held #ISSFJWC, our young shooters have brought home several laurels and made every Indian very proud. Congratulations to the Indian team that took part and achieved remarkable success in the tournament in Sydney. @ISSF_Shooting,” he wrote in his first tweet.
“The stupendous performance of our shooters will strengthen the #FitIndia movement and many more youngsters will feel motivated to play more and excel. Once again, I congratulate the entire shooting team that participated in the #ISSFJWC. @ISSF_Shooting,” concluded Modi.
With the gold medals, India stood second in the medals tally at the ISSF World Cup with a total of 22 medals – nine golds, five silvers and eight bronze – behind China’s 25 who also bagged nine gold medals.
