Karnataka’s ruling Congress on Friday complained to the Election Commission against the BJP President Amit Shah for handing over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the family of a slain RSS worker.
Shah, on a two-day tour of election-bound Karnataka that votes on May 12 to elect a new government, met the family of H Raju in Mysuru and handed them the cheque. The RSS worker was murdered in 2016.
In their complaint to the poll panel, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee alleged that Shah had tried to polarise voters in Mysuru by offering compensation to Raju’s kin which in turn was a violation of the model code of conduct.

Earlier in the day, Shah said over 24 BJP/RSS workers have been killed in the state and the police has taken no action against the killers.

Meanwhile, the Congress’ complaint comes two days after it had lodged a similar protest with the EC against Shah’s alleged violation of the election code by terming Chief Minister Siddaramaiah “anti-Hindu”.
