‘Laapataa Ladies’ misses Oscar shortlist; Aamir Khan responds

Aamir Khan, who turned 53 on Wednesday, is not just a superstar but also one of the most diverse and passionate actors of our country. He not only puts his heart and soul in every role that he portrays, but also works for several social causes.
While Aamir Khan is already revered by Indian audiences because his incredible performances, he has now also won the hearts of the Chinese, first with Dangal (2016) and recently with Secret Superstar (2017).

1. Aamir Khan was very much interested in lawn tennis and films were not his only love. During his school days, he had participated in several state-level championships. Roger Federer is his favourite tennis player.
2. Aamir once joined a theatre group called Avantar where he worked backstage for two years. Aamir even performed at Prithvi Theatre in a Gujarati play called ‘Kesar Bina’. Then against his father’s wish, he decided to become an actor.
3. Aamir first featured in the film Holi made by Ketan Mehta, which was a documentary made by the students of Film and Television Institute of India.
4. Aamir had met Reena Dutta (first wife) before the release of Holi in 1984. The two married in 1986. Reena is also visible in one of the shots of Aamir’s first big hit Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
5. Juhi Chawla was Aamir Khan’s co-star in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and the two became great friends and went on to do around seven films together. However, Aamir’s habit of playing pranks put Juhi off while on the sets of Ishq (1997) and their equation soured. They didn’t do any films together post that but patched up a few years later.
6. The actor has three National Film Awards for his movies Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par and 3 Idiots. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
7. His favorite Hollywood actors are Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis. He feels Ranbir Kapoor is the hottest young actor while Sushant Singh Rajput has the brightest future.
8. He hates loud music and keeps asking you to reduce the volume from time to time and probably end up irritating you.
9. Aamir suffers from eating disorder. He is either on a strict diet or eating everything that there is on the table.
10. He also doesn’t like bathing.
