Anganwadi workers protesting in Haryana seeking better pay and regularisation of their service, on Saturday withdraw their agitation after an assurance by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

After meeting with Khattar, Anganwadi workers informed the mediapersons that they have decided to withdraw their protest and give two-month time to the government to fulfill their demands relating to hike in pay, grant of various allowances and regularisation of service.

All the Anganwadi workers would join their duties from Monday as the Chief Minister has assured on fulfilling our demands in coming time, however, if the state government fails to fulfill our demand within two months, we would begin agitation from 10 May, this year, the delegation said.

The ongoing Budget Session of Haryana Assembly has also witnessed ruckus several times on the issue with Opposition parties, including the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Congress taking on Khattar-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for overlooking the demands of agitating Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state. As per the protestors, nearly, 50,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers were protesting in the state.

According to the agitating Anganwadi workers, the increase in wages as announced by the government was insufficient and they should be paid wages at least equivalent to a Class IV employee who get over Rs 16,000 salary per month in Haryana.
