In a bizarre incident, a British woman was forced to get off the flight as an airhostess overheard her talking about the menstrual pain.
According to media reports, Beth Evans (24) has claimed that she was removed from the flight along with her boyfriend, Joshua Moran (26), from an Emirates flight bound for Dubai after an attendant overheard her complaining about menstrual cramps.
A report in The Sun claims that the flight was scheduled to depart Birmingham, England, on 17 February when the couple was booted out of the flight.
“To be kicked off for period pains, it was madness,” The Sun quoted Moran as saying.
“Beth was in tears and getting upset when the hostess was asking her questions. It’s embarrassing to have to explain about period pains when it’s being overheard.”
While the couple maintained that the flight attendant overheard them, Emirates claimed that Beth Evans had “alerted the crew onboard that she was suffering from discomfort and pain and mentioned that she was feeling unwell.”
Talking to her boyfriend, Beth reportedly rated her pain “1 out of 10.” But even then, Emirates asserted that the woman was “offloaded” because of “a medical emergency.”
“The passenger alerted the crew onboard that she was suffering from discomfort and pain and mentioned that she was feeling unwell. The captain made the decision to request medical support and offload Ms. Evans so she could access medical assistance as needed. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance, and we would not have wanted to endanger Ms. Evans by delaying medical help had she worsened during the seven-hour flight to Dubai. We hope Ms. Evans felt better soon and look forward to welcoming her onboard again soon,” the statement read, according the Washington Post.
Both Evans and Moran had to pay $350 each to reschedule the trip.
