Hyderabad: MBA student ends life during video call with friend

An MBA student from Andhra Pradesh’s Anantpur district hanged herself during a video call with her friend, at a hostel in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred at the private hostel in the city’s Kompally area on Saturday night. The victim was studying in the second year of her MBA course at Sivasivani Institute of Management.

According to the police, Hanisha Chowdhary resorted to the extreme step while talking to her friend Dakshit Patel.

Chowdhary was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

A police officer said they have recovered the girl’s mobile phone and were investigating the the cause behind the suicide.

3rd suicide in less than one-month

This is the third case of alleged suicide from Hyderabad in one month. On 2 February, a teenage girl allegedly committed suicide after she was made to stand outside her class in a private school where she studied for failing to clear fee due of 2,000.

The 14-year-old K Sai Deepthi, a class 9th student, was reportedly punished by the principal for not paying the fees. She ended her life after returning from school.

On 6 February, a 21-year-old engineering student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room in the Hyderabad campus of BITS Pilani. Raghav Shantaram hailed from Chennai and was a third-year student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE).

The student was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room. However, no suicide note was found.
