Punjab: Five veterinary officers dismissed
In a bold move to address negligence and absenteeism, Punjab Animal Husbandry Department on Thursday terminated the services of five veterinary officers with immediate effect.
A 26-year-old woman from Bathinda died on Valentine’s Day after her hair got entangled in a go-kart, which she was riding with her husband Amardeep at an amusment park near Yadavindra Gardens in Panchkula’s Pinjore.
The victim has been identified as Puneet Kaur (28), a resident of Bathinda district. The accident took place around 2 pm.
As per media report, Puneet had tied her hair in a bun and was also wearing a helmet but her hair-bun came off, following which her hair got stuck in the rear-tire of the go-kart. Her scalp was severed from her head in the accident.

At the time of the incident the couple’s one-year-old child and Amardeep’s parents were present at the amusement park.
She was taken to a private hospital from where she was referred to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. There, she was declared brought dead.
The police were informed about the accident by Panchkula hospital. As per media report, the police have not registered an FIR, as no one has recorded a statement, however investigations are underway.
The body of the victim has been handed over to the family after initial inquiry.
