Fire at multi-story building in Delhi’s Connaught Place
Luckily no one is reportedly hurt in the incident as the blaze was brought under control within 2.10 minutes of commencing the fire fighting.
The sixth anniversary of the “One Billion Rising Campaign” was observed across the country and in many part of South Asia on Sunday, with people joining in the fight against the unacceptable levels of violence being witnessed in recent times against women, girls and even infants.
Central Park in Connaught Place was buzzing with activity with women, men and children participating in the wider call for justice and equality through dance, music, theatre and other creative activities organised by civil society organisations.
Kamla Bhasin, Regional Coordinator, OBR, set the tone for the event by stressing that, “We all need to rise to the occasion and Rise until violence stops, patriarchy disappears, the values of our Constitutions become a Reality because this war against gender-based violence is no longer just a women or girls issue.”

Meenu from Azad Foundation said, “Having performed street plays across settlements and communities it is clear that art and activism can be brought together to raise awareness and consciousness and help countless survivors to heal and feel emotionally cared for.”
Participant organisations included Azad Foundation, Jagori, Manas, Breakthrough, Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR), Joint Women Programme, Janasamskriti, Nine is Mine, Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEQUIN), Kahaani Waale, Womenite, Asmita Theatre, Srijanathmak Manushi Sansthan (SMS) MS Kalindi College and Kalindi College and Shivaji College.
