Everyone was stunned when Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) snapped Ravichandran Ashwin from Chennai Super Kings for a whopping amount of Rs 7.6-crore.
Now after getting snubbed by CSK, R Ashwin finally talked about it. The off-spinner said that he was disappointed with CSK’s decision and he is going to miss playing for the Chennai franchise.

“Obviously I was a tad disappointed. I have been here for the past 10 years. Literally, I own that space at Chepauk. The cheer that I got every time I came on to bowl, I will miss that. The auction is very unpredictable and probably if you saw this auction, people were not going all guns blazing. I am a bit disappointed that I will not be turning up for CSK,” he said.
While talking about the match between CSK and KXIP, he said, “It will feel lovely. I will again get a chance to showcase my skills in front of my home crowd. That is all that matters to me. It is a ground that has great memories. It has been part of my meteoric rise.”
“It gave me a lot of momentum going into my international career. Coming back there and play against CSK, it may probably motivate me more. Let’s see how it goes,” Ashwin added.
The fans of CSK are on cloud nine with the return of their franchise in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League. In the players’ auction, people were expecting either the Chennai based franchise would bid big for Ashwin or use their Right to Match (RTM) card for the Tamil Nadu based cricketer. But CSK let him go.
While talking about their decision, Stephen Fleming, the coach of the team, had said, “We went into the auction knowing our cap for Ashwin will not be more than Rs 4-crore, knowing it will be a lot more than 4. He (Ashwin) was a big part of CSK. But as proven it was going to be harder to retain him.”
