Senior Women Nationals: CRPF defeat J-K 8-0

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) maintained their 100 per cent record in the pool stages as they registered their fifth victory to secure a semi-final spot with a tally of 15 points, when they beat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 8-0 in a Pool D match in the 8th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2018 (B Division) continued here on Thursday.

The Central Reserve Police Force scored their first goal of the match in the 5th minute and kept the momentum going by scoring eight goals in total. Goals in the impressive victory for Central Reserve Police Force were scored by Pragya Mourya (8′, 48′, 52′), Neha Sharma (19′, 44′, 51′) and Siddhi Singh (5′, 43′).

Meanwhile in Pool D match, Manipur Hockey defeated Sports Authority of Gujarat – Hockey Academy by a margin of 3-2 as they registered their third victory of the competition to finish the Pool stages at third spot with a tally of nine points.The Sports Authority of Gujarat – Hockey Academy scored the first goal in the 2nd minute through Shivangi Solanki but Manipur Hockey equalised the scores in the 11th minute through Ibemhal Sangai.

At the start of the second quarter, Shivangi Solanki scored her second goal in the 16th minute to take the lead, but Manipur Hockey made a comeback in the match to snatch a 3-2 win with goals scored by Pushpa Devi Mayengbam (33′) and Ibemhal Sangai (53′).

In a Pool C match that took place late last evening, Bengaluru Hockey Association played out a 1-1 draw with Delhi Hockey to secure the top spot in the pool and advance to the Semi Final of the competition. A win for Delhi Hockey would have taken them through to the semi-final but it was Bengaluru Hockey Association who made a comeback into the match to salvage a point and secure their Semi Final berth.

The match saw Delhi Hockey produce some attacking moves early on which enabled them to score in the 9th minute through Sonali. However, Bengaluru Hockey Association fought back well to find the equalizer towards the end of the third quarter as they scored in the 43rd minute through a Penalty Corner which was converted by their skipper S Sandra.
