Love and music led to a happy wedding of two visually impaired singers here. They were unable to see each other but then love is blind and they had decided to support each other. Dillip Sahu of Bajapur village who is a singer tied the nuptial knot to Anita his cosinger last week after overcoming initial reluctance from family members.

Dillip Sahu, a graduate from SVM College here failed to get a job. He decided to become a singer to maintain himself. Sahu joined a bhajan troupe. On last 2013, he In 2013 tragedy struck Dillip again . He was on train returning from Balasore when miscreants snatched his money and cell phone. Sahu resisted and they threw him out of the train.

He lost his left hand and leg in the process. Female singer of the bhajan troupe, Anita Barik, was shocked to see the condition of her singing partner Sahu. She took care of him. Sahu proposed to her and they married. Sahu said he had told his family members about Anita, but they did not agree to the marriage proposal.

Later, relatives, friends and villagers intervened and started counseling with family members of Mr Sahu to accept their love and also to accept his wife as their daughter in law. Finally the family members agreed and the wedding took place in Bajapur last Wednesday.

Sub-Divisional Social Security Officer Mr Harendra Kumar Dehuri was overwhelmed and said ‘these two visually challenged couple have set an example of an ideal marriage overcoming all challenges in life. The administration will extend all benefits like training , loan etc to make them self reliant”.
