On the day India celebrated its 69th Republic Day, pro-India and anti-India protesters faced off outside India High Commission in London.
Pakistani-origin UK politician Lord Nazir Ahmed, a pro-Pakistan peer in the House of Lords, organised a black-day protest to demand freedom for Kashmir and Khalistan.

Lord Ahmed led an anti-India protest campaign called ‘India leave Kashmir’ outside the India House in London, during which the demonstrators raised slogans and waved flags.

The Ahmed-led group verbally clashed with pro-India demonstrators, who were members of the Indian diaspora in the city that had mobilised a ‘Chalo India House’ demonstration.
The groups on both sides tried to shout at each other outside the Indian High Commission building as Scotland Yard officers stood guard.
The Indian High Commission in London branded the protest as a “desperate attempt by a disgraced politician” who had been suspended from the Labour Party in 2013 following an anti-semitism row.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter saying, “I was very impressed with our zealously patriotic Indian diaspora and enjoyed a warm interaction with them which was organised by @HCI_London”.

Rijiju also said,”Salute to the Indian patriots in London. The miniscule fringe elements can’t dent the spirit of India. We are all one from Arunachal Pradesh to Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland to Rann of Kutch, Kanyakumari to Punjab.”
