BJP will corner AAP govt on public interest issues in Assembly:Gupta
The Leader of the Opposition said that this government has failed on every front.
One of the five petitioners in the triple talaq case, Ishrat Jahan, has joined the BJP, the party’s general secretary of the West Bengal unit Sayantan Basu said on Monday.
Ishrat’s husband had divorced her by uttering talaq thrice through phone from Dubai in 2014.
“Ishrat Jahan joined the BJP at our Howrah office on Sunday,” Basu told PTI. Ishrat was felicitated in the presence of BJP workers in Howrah and inducted into the party. A state level function to felicitate her will be organised soon, it is learnt.

Ishrat stays at a house in Howrah’s Pilkhna locality. As per reports, over the years, since she filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the instant talaq, she was treated badly by her in-laws’ family and neighbours.
The controversial practice was struck down by the Supreme Court on 22 August 2017.
