“Indian Navy secures and protects our maritime boundaries. I congratulate all those who belong to the Navy. After Independence, our Indian Navy showed its valour on various occasions; be it the liberation struggle of Goa or the Indo-Pak war,” Modi said.
“The Indian Navy has served the nation with great diligence. When we talk of the Navy, we see only war but the Indian Navy has come forward in humanitarian ventures as well,” he added.
“We Indians, always nurture feeling of pride and respect towards our security forces- army, navy or air force; every countryman salutes courage, bravery, valour, chivalry and sacrifice of our soldiers. They sacrifice their youth for country so that 125 crore countrymen live in peace,” he said further.
December 4 is celebrated as the Navy Day in India, to commemorate the start of Operation Trident during the India-Pakistan War of 1971.
