The Punjab Human Rights Commission (PHRC) on Friday took suo moto cognisance over poor infrastructure in state run government schools.
Citing the provisions contained under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, the Commission under section 12(a) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 has sought a report from Principal Secretary with department of secondary education till 15 February, 2018.
The Commission in its order has observed that the state government has failed to release funds of over `1,000 crore to the government schools further causing problems to the students.
