Ambala Jail is Honeypreet’s home at least for next 14 days

Dera chief’s ‘adopted daughter; Honeypreet Insan was sent to 14-day judicial custody by Panchkula court on Friday.

Another woman, Sukhdeep Kaur, who was arrested with her earlier this month, has also been remanded in judicial custody, and both have been sent to Ambala jail, reports said.

Honeypreet’s 6-day police remand ended on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan appeared before a Haryana Police’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) for questioning in connection with 25 August violence in Panchkula.

Haryana Police had claimed that Honeypreet Insan was misleading the police and had ‘confessed’ to her role in inciting violence on 25 August in Panchkula.

On 5 October, Honeypreet was taken to Bathinda – where she was allegedly hiding before being nabbed– for investigations into charges of sedition.

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, who remained fugitive for 38 days after she was booked by the Haryana Police on charge of sedition, was arrested on Tuesday from the Zirakpur-Patiala highway, about 15 km from Chandigarh.

The court had in September issued arrest warrants against top Dera functionaries — Honeypreet, Aditya Insan and Pawan Insan— after being charged of sedition, inciting violence and being involved in a conspiracy to help Ram Rahim escape following his conviction by a CBI court.

On 8 October, Rakesh Arora – driver of Honeypreet Insan – was booked by Haryana Police  for his alleged involvement in ‘assisting’ Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s ‘adopted’ daughter evade arrest.

The driver was booked by the Panchkula police and has been taken to Chandimandir police station for questioning.

The police said that, Rakesh Arora was with Honeypreet, when she was allegedly evading arrest.
