Fire inside house: Retired DSP, 5 others of family die of asphyxiation in J&K
Six persons of a family, including two children, died of asphyxiation when a fire erupted in a house in Jammu's Kathua early Wednesday, officials said.
A man has been arrested for illegal possession of a country-made pistol in Jammu, a police officer said today.

A police team intercepted the man in Chatta and recovered the pistol and 11 live cartridges from him last evening, the officer said.

He was identified as Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Langrial in R S Pura.
A case has been registered at Satwari police station.
“Further investigation into the case is going on,” the officer said.
During preliminary inquiry, police came to know that he was involved in cases of attempt to murder and narcotics smuggling in R S Pura.
