The legal heirs of Mandi landslide victims were on Friday awarded Rs.1,54,85,000 as compensation at a Pre-Litigation Mediation Adalat in Shimla, wherein 16 cases were settled with Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
A total of about 45 legal heirs of 20 deceased victims had turned up in the Adalat in the High Court, which was held under the guidance of Justice Sanjay Karol, active Chief Justice and Executive Chairman of HP State Legal Services Authority.
The pre-litigation mediation was organised to give speedy justice to the legal heirs of victims of families. A total of 16 trained mediators participated in it.

An official release claimed that the victims showed keen interest in settling the cases in the pre-litigation mediation as they were in urgent need of money, having lost their bread earners.
The victims were satisfied with initiative of H.P. State Legal Services Authority. A major landslide near Mandi had claimed 48 lives last month.
