Ramdev's company set to launch an apparel line for ‘masses as well classes’ in the first quarter next year.
His own wardrobe may not be having a single piece of stitched clothes, but Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev is all set to launch an apparel line for ‘masses as well classes’ in the first quarter next year.
Buoyed by his successful foray into herbal cosmetics, organic food and ayurvedic medicines market, Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Ltd has set an ambitious sales target of Rs. 5,000 crore for the first year itself. The Haridwar-based FMCG firm, Patanjali Ayruved Ltd, had clocked a turnover of Rs. 10,561 crore in the financial year that ended on March 31, 2017.
The company is currently busy finalising the name for its apparel line, with “Paridhan” being one of the options under consideration. Ramdev’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala told mediapersons last week that they will launch multiple brands of clothing under the Patanjali label. The first line will be available across company’s 250 exclusive retail outlets in April 2018, he had said.

“Patanjali will have different products in each category – value-for-money clothes for the masses and apparel that will have the snob value meant for the classes,” Tijarawala had said. “We will start with woven clothes, knitwear and machine-made apparel, including denims.”
It was in September 2016 that the saffron-robe-clad yoga guru had announced his intention of launching a clothing line with ‘swadeshi’ touch. “Products like clothing, which we will design and brand, can be outsourced. There are many good manufactures in Ludhiana and other textile centres for that work," Ramdev had said.
Going by the entrepreneur Ramdev has turned out to be and the faith people have reposed in whatever he offers, Patanjali is set to make it to the wardrobes this time!
