Anyone who thinks that sunshine is pure happiness has never danced in the rain and a truly liberating experience it is. While we do not have any grudges against the sun, which admittedly does have its cons (and pros), but almost everyone favours monsoon.
Rain replenishes nature, cleanses the environment, re-energises the living and provides us temporary respite from the harsh summer sun. But monsoon requires a certain sort of clothing just like all other seasons of the year and their variety spans from socio-geographic reasons on local weather conditions to personal choice on comfort.

Let us now take a quick look at a few of the monsoon gears. The first and foremost one is a very frequent choice of clothing during the rains: raincoat.

A raincoat is a waterproof or water-resistant coat worn to protect the body from rain. This is a common monsoon wear for children, walking to and fro from schools. These raincoats are available in transparent plastic form and also in various glittering colours. In an age with fast traffic, bikers are seen with these same raincoats, populating the roads.
The next one is another common accessory for all seasons, not just rain: umbrella. It is used mainly for protecting us against the rains during the rainy seasons and snowfalls during the winter. Further it is used to shield our heads from sunbeams during hot summer, known then, as a parasol.
There are various types of umbrella or parasol, a folding canopy supported by wooden or metal ribs, which is sometimes mounted on a wooden, metal, or plastic pole. It is designed to protect a person against rain or sunlight and often we see individuals with variously fashioned umbrellas – from solid-coloured to intricately designed ones.
Several other such rain-protecting clothing as rain boots, rain jackets are also widely in use. Those have the same purpose of shielding people from the splattering drops.
The footwear demands a special mention as the art of walking on slippery (rain-soaked) and rain-clogged streets, critically depends on the design and nature.
A rain boot is able to protect our feet and part of leg upto the knee. Shoe companies across the globe have come up with diverse range of footwear in perfect harmony with local weather and geographic conditions.
So when it rains, be it a drizzle or a heavy shower, we face apparent inconvenience but along with the help of these outfits, the soul of common man does not dampen in true spirit with Eurythmics title song “Here comes the rain again”.
