More than 73,000 students have registered for entrance test-based undergraduate (UG) programme of Delhi University for the 2017-18 academic year, out of which about 38,000 applicants have already deposited fees.
DU conducts entrance tests for professional undergraduate courses, imcluding BA (Honours) Music, BA (Hons) Humanities and Social Sciences, BA (Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication, Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) , B.Tech (IT &MI) , Bachelor of Management studies (BMS), BBA Financial Investment Analysis (FIA) and a few other courses.
The registration for entrance-based UG courses started on 16 June and closed on 25 June. The entrance exam would be conducted in the online mode in 18 cities across the nation. As per the data provided by the Officer on Special Duty, Admissions, the total number of male applicants is 39586 while female applicants are 34246. The number of candidates who have applied under others category in which transgenders apply is 41. Altogether 51197 unreserved candidates have applied, OBC applications are 13955, SC applications are 7534 while ST applications are 1187. Applicants under total physical disability category are 308, including 33 total intellectual disability applicants, 21 total mental behaviour (mental illness) applicants, 15 total chronic neurological conditions/blood disorder applicants and 23 under total multiple disability. The largest number of applicants have been received for BMS/BBE/ BBA(FIA) course at close to 16,000 followed by B.El.Ed and BA (hons) humanities and social sciences respectively.
