PM lauds Maharashtra govt efforts to ensure development of Maoist-affected areas
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded Maharashtra Government's efforts to ensure all-round development in remote and Maoist-affected areas.
Posters by banned Maoist group have put the Almora administration in Uttarakhand on the tenterhooks. The posters carrying name of Communist Party of India (Maoist) have been found about half-a-dozen times at different places in the district.
The hand-written posters pledge to make the state drug-free and they started surfacing during the assembly elections in November-December last year. They continue to surface in Almora at regular intervals since.

One such poster was found at Dwarahat on Thursday.

Almora’s Senior Superintendent of Police P. Renuka Devi said, “Two Maoist activists are absconding for a long time. We have increased the reward on them from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 60,000.”
The posters have so far been found in Chaukhutiya, Dwarahat, Someshwar, Dhaulchina and Manan. The handwriting is identical and red ink was used on all of them. Almora has been witnessing such posters since 2015.
Almora District Magistrate Savin Basan and the SSP met on Friday to discuss the issue. The DM has instructed the officials to immediately bring such posters to the notice of the district administration.
The local police is desperately searching for Khim Singh Bora and Devendra Chimiyal — two Maoist activists. Early last year pamphlets by same outfit were recovered from Someshwar, Almora city and Bareychinna. But, at that time computer printouts were circulated. This time posters were pasted on a wall.
