The special screening of Sachin: A Billion Dreams saw the presence of the Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli. But Sachin Tendulkar’s opening partner Virender Sehwag was away on a holiday.
Sehwag's absence was felt strongly by all. The former Indian opener later revealed the reason and expressed how eager he was to watch the film.
“Godji invited for #SachinPremiere, but Biwi ji took me away to a holiday. Godji toh prasad chadake maan jaate hain, but Biwi ji kahaan maanti (God will understand but wife won’t),” Sehwag tweeted on Thursday.
The 38-year-old former batsman also shared a video, where he was seen wishing Tendulkar success for the film.
“I've seen Sachin Tendulkar's batting for free from the non-striker's end and dressing room. But this is the time when I can watch the film after buying a ticket. I would definitely go to watch the film,” Sehwag said in the video.
The cricketer also urged the fans to watch the film. “Nothing can inspire a kid more than this film,” he added.
Based on the life of Tendulkar, James Erskine-directed Sachin: A Billion Dreams was released on Friday.
