The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Wednesday ruled out any foul play in the death of a 28-year-old Dalit student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, who allegedly hanged himself in his friend's room here on March 13.

A five-member medical board, constituted to conduct the autopsy, in its preliminary report said the death was due to hanging and that no injury mark was found on the body.

A senior Forensic Department official said the death was due to asphyxia.

The viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis.
