A man in Southwest Delhi stabbed his wife and childhood friend over alleged illicit relations between them. Both the victims were found lying critically injured on the footpath outside Safdarjung Hospital on Friday in. They died during their treatment at the hospital.
A case of murder has been registered at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station and the accused, identified as Gandharv (22), a resident of Gokulpuri, New Delhi, was nabbed by the police within six hours of the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest Delhi), Manoj C said that on December 30, duty constable at Safdarjung Hospital received information that a woman and a man were lying in a pool of blood on the footpath close to gate number- 2 of Safdarjung Hospital.
A police team reached the spot and immediately admitted them to the Safdarjung Hospital, where both them succumbed to their injuries.
While the identity of the woman has not be disclosed, the deceased man was identified as Sagar, a resident of Gokulpuri, Delhi.
Considering the gravity of the case, five police teams comprising of Inspector Darpan Singh, Inspector Param Jeet Singh, Sub-Inspector Deepak Tanwar, Akshay Sheoran, Head Constable Rahul Thukran and other police staff under the leadership of Inspector Santosh Kumar Rawat and supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) VKPS Yadav were constituted.
During investigation, it was revealed that the deceased woman married to Gandharv for the past 1.5 year was living with him in Noida. She was working in a hospital in Noida.
In due course of time, she came in contact with a childhood friend of her husband Sagar and developed an extramarital affair with him. It was further revealed from the parents of deceased that Gandharv was warning Sagar for the last one week to get away from his wife.
With these revelations, the police teams mounted technical surveillance and conducted raids at possible hideouts of the Gandharv and eventually apprehended him from Karkardooma.
During interrogation, Gandharv disclosed that his wife and childhood friend had developed friendship in 15 days and had started living together.
The accused had warned Sagar a couple of times to get away from his wife, but he ignored his warnings. This enraged him and on the fateful night he stabbed both of them with a knife and fled the spot.
It came to fore during the investigation that the accused was married to another woman earlier and after separation from his first wife got married to the deceased.
