At least two lawyers were killed in a gunfire incident outside a sessions court here on Tuesday.

The deceased lawyers were identified as Rana Ishtiaq and Owais Talib. The assailant, Kashif Rajput, opened fire at Ishtiaq — who was his cousin — over a family dispute, the police said.

Subsequently, the second lawyer also came under fire and was injured. He was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his bullet wounds, Geo News reported.

Rajput, who was later arrested, is said to be a lawyer but the police were investigating the claim.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought a report from the police.
