Robert De Niro hopes that US President Donald Trump gets impeached.
De Niro was speaking at the premiere of his upcoming Netflix film The Irishman in New York to variety.com, when he made the statement.
“I hope he gets impeached, it has to be followed through, he’s such a low life… He taints everybody around him.”
“It’s disgraceful with this guy,” De Niro further stated. “He has no center, no ethics, no morals. He’s amoral, immoral.”
This is not the first time the veteran actor expressed his views on the President. At the Tony Awards telecast in 2018, he greeted audiences with the words, “F— Trump”, for which he received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Some members of the film industry of America have time and again spoken publicly against Donald Trump.
Filmmaker Spike Lee also spoke against Trump.
When the Oscar winner was asked on who he liked for the 2020 presidential election, Lee had said, “Agent Orange, gotta go,” referring to President Trump, reported variety.
The Irishman is a much-awaited Martin Scorsese film starring Al Pacino, Anna Paquin and Joe Pesci.
It is based on Charles Brandt’s memoir I Heard You Paint Hoses and revolves around the slaying of American labour union leader Jimmy Hoffa who later became involved in organised crime until his disappearance and subsequent death.
