A pregnant Pakistani singer was shot dead at a village in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province after she reportedly didn’t oblige to a man’s “request” to stand up while singing at a ceremony.

The 24-year-old local singer Samina Samoon, also known as Samina Sindhu, was allegedly shot dead on Tuesday by accused Tarique Ahmed Jatoi while she was serenading the gathering, Dawn reported.

Samina, who was six months pregnant, was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police have arrested the accused, who was allegedly intoxicated when he badgered the victim to comply before he shot her dead.

The police have arrested the accused and two of his accomplices for shooting the singer. The police said the singer’s husband filed a double murder report because of the unborn child.
