Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi courted a major controversy on Tuesday after tweeting against India over the “crackdown in Kashmir by Indian security forces to tackle terrorist attacks at various places in the Valley”.
Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?

The statement didn’t go down well with Indians as the former all-rounder was criticised heavily on the social media.
Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was among the people who sharply gave it back to Afridi.
“Media called me for reaction on @SAfridiOfficial tweet on OUR Kashmir & @UN. What’s there to say? Afridi is only looking for @UN which in his retarded dictionary means “UNDER NINTEEN” his age bracket. Media can relax, @SAfridiOfficial is celebrating a dismissal off a no- ball!!!” wrote Gambhir.

In the latest development, Pakistan Army’s spokesperson, Director General-Inter Services PR Asif Ghafoor took a dig at Gambhir and India in a bid to support Afridi.
From his personal Twitter account, Ghafoor shared a video footage of a past match which was played between India and Pakistan. In the Asia Cup match, Aridi led Pakistan to victory by hitting two consecutive sixes.

Meanwhile, after facing backlash for his tweet on Kashmir, Shahid Afridi once again took to Twitter and shared his picture with an Indian fan who is holding a Tricolour. In the tweet, he wrote: “We respect all. And this is an example as sportsman. But when it comes to human rights we expect the same for our innocent Kashmiris.”
