Christchurch attack accused pleads ‘not guilty’ to multiple murder, terrorism charges

The man who has been accused of killing 51 people in the Christchurch mosque attacks, has pleaded “not guilty” to multiple murder and terrorism charges.

Lawyer Shane Tait said Brenton Tarrant, his client pleaded “not guilty to all charges” when he appeared in the Christchurch High Court via an audiovisual link from a maximum security prison in Auckland.

The self-proclaimed white supremacist has been charged with 51 counts of murder, 40 of attempted murder and engaging in a terrorist act on March 15.

Brenton Tarrant, 28, opened fire on Muslim faithful inside the Masjid Al Noor and Linwood mosques with an assault rifle killing many and injuring scores of others in what has been described as the worst attack on Muslims in New Zealand.

The Australian was previously charged with one murder as a holding measure.
