In protest of the new military recruitment policy, Agnipath, a mob vandalized and set fire to the Sealdah Express in Ballia district on Friday.

Before the police used force to disperse the mob, they caused damage to the railway station’s property.

Ballia SP Raj Karan Nayyar stated that they are reviewing the demonstration tapes in order to identify the men. “We’ll track them down and take action,” Nayyar promised.

After conversing with one mob, the Ballia police commander stated they were able to disperse it, while another group of demonstrators with sticks clashed with police on the streets outside the railway station.

Videos of the protest show young men with lathis breaking shops and benches at the railway station.

“The police managed to stop the mob from large-scale damage. We will act against the men,” Ballia district magistrate Saumya Agarwal told reporters.
