Peep into mini-Korea

Usually the scene inside any mall is a buzz of shopping activity. However, for two days at the Ambiance Mall, Gurgaon, where a grand Korea Culture and Tourism Festival 2017 was taking place, people were seen thronging different stalls and counters to know more about South Korea’s food, culture and tourism destinations. Some were enjoying the food, some trying to buy their articles, some were trying to play their games and some were more interested in their music. Overall, it seemed a mini-Korea had taken over the mall for two days (25-26 November).

Organised by Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO), the purpose of the two-day event was to familiarize a visitor with popular tourist destinations, cuisine, art, culture and the country’s heritage. Not only this, the event also witnessed a Memorandum of Understanding between leading Korean companies such as LG, Hyundai, Samsung and KTO to promote tourism by organising MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and events) groups to Korea for their employees and dealers. The country seemed to have gone all out to impress Indians.

For instance, there was a food counter (by Korea Agro Fisheries and Food Trade Cooperation) to give a taste of the local Korean flavours. There was also a K-Beauty zone by famous Korean beauty brand Innisfree that offered free make-up sessions and samples, which kept many female visitors engaged. Then there was many activities like face mask painting, Hangeul calligraphy and video gallery, exhibiting Korean history and cultural assets.

Then there was also a special virtual reality zone and photo-op booth that had been created for the visitors to get themselves clicked wearing traditional Korean Hanbok dress with customised background.
