With the onset of the wedding season, couples have been booking and searching more beach destinations for their honeymoon, according to a survey.
Online travel agency MakeMyTrip conducted the survey with 500 individuals, mostly aged between 25 to 34.
In terms of destinations, 49 per cent of the honeymooners prefer beach destinations, while 23 per cent said they prefer visiting popular cities.
Almost 60 per cent of them said they prefer a lightly-planned trip with basic sightseeing and a focus on spending time on themselves, whereas 74 per cent of them opted to cover not more than two cities during a trip.
Preferring to have a luxurious time post-hectic wedding functions, honeymooners prefer resorts over hotels, with almost 40 per cent of them hunting for 4-5 star resorts and 29 per cent preferring four star hotels.
In terms of activities, 49 per cent customers prefer candlelight and beach dinner as the most attractive activities, followed by 44 per cent honeymooners preferring couple spa.

We have observed a rise in bookings for domestic destinations like Goa, Kerala and Andamans while Thailand, Bali and Maldives remain clear favourite as international honeymoon destinations for Indians.”
