The Government of India on Tuesday, has made a significant adjustment to the charger used to charge mobile phones in order to benefit consumers and decrease electronic waste.
BIS has issued guidelines for mobile producers to keep the standard USB Type-C charging port for all smartphones and mobile devices. The day of implementation has been decided as March 2025, manufacturers have to ensure the products they sell in India will come with USB Type-c
All new mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, portable game consoles, will come with a standard USB Type-C connector.
Users will be able to charge their smartphones at the same speed from any company charger that is compatible because all devices that support USB C-Type fast charging will have the same charging speed.
The new regulations will allow consumers to utilise a single charger for a variety of devices, eliminating the need for a separate charger each time they purchase a new item.
