Huawei today put all the rumours to rest as it finally unveiled the most awaited Huawei Mate 30 Series, during an exclusive launch event in Munich, Berlin.
The Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro built on the success of P30 Pro and Mate 20 series. While the devices can be described as big-ticket launch from the world’s second-largest smartphone maker, it comes under tough situations. However, the launch today is being outshined by the ban imposed by the US that has restricted the company from working with technology giants like Google, Qualcomm, and Microsoft.
The Chinese manufacturer’s latest offering has a 6.53-inch full HD+ flex OLED ‘horizon’ display with curves at an 88-degrees angle called ‘Waterfall Display’. It sports a quad-camera setup on the back with a huge 40-megapixel primary sensor. The device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 990 5G chipset launched earlier this month at IFA Messe Berlin.
The Mate 30 comes with a 4200mAh battery, whereas the Mate 30 Pro packs a 4500mAh battery, which supports 27W wireless Huawei SuperCharge and 40W Huawei SuperCharge respectively. The Mate 30 Pro has pressure-sensitive edges that are basically invisible virtual keys that can be mapped for volume adjustment, gaming and camera set-up. Good thing is, the feature makes the phone ideal for both right and left-handed users. Vivo’s latest, Nex 3 has also ditched physical volume buttons with the virtual buttons. But, Huawei is using a different technology to achieve this.
The Mate 30 Pro has a quad-camera system on the rear powered by a 40-megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture. There’s also another 40-megapixel ultra-wide cine-sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. Plus. Huawei differentiates the two custom sensors as “Cine-Camera” and “SuperSensing” camera. In addition to this, there’s an 8-megapixel telephoto camera and a 3D depth-sensing camera.
The Huawei Mate 30 is equipped with the triple camera setup, comprising a 40MP SuperSensing Camera, 16MP ultra wide-angle camera and an 8MP telephoto camera. There’s a new ISP in the SoC that Huawei claims can reduce image noise by 30 per cent and video noise by 20 per cent. Huawei said its 1/1.7-inch main sensor helps it capture more light to deliver great low-light photos with ISO going up to 409600 – same as the P30 Pro. The camera system supports 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, and up to 30x digital zoom. Both the phones have Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and 3D Depth Sensing, A 3D depth Sensing Camera on the front delivers bokeh effects.
For video recording, Huawei said the 1/1.54-inch cine-sensor can capture videos at 4K60fps with ISO 51200. So, the Mate 30 Pro should be capable of recording decent quality footage even in low-light conditions. The Mate 30 will also let you shoot super slow-motion videos at a whopping 7,680 fps.
The smartphones will be made available in Emerald Green, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Black colour options. The phones run on the EMUI10 operating system featuring a contemporary magazine inspired layout.
The Mate 30 Pro is priced at €1,099 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB model. The company has priced the 5G variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for €1,199.
The company has also launched a luxury segment under which Huawei is offering Ferrari edition of Mate 30RS, which is priced at a premium price tag of €2,099. The 8GB RAM is priced at €799. There is no information on the Indian pricing or availability of the devices so far.
