Google Voice will soon get a spam call alert, as the search engine giant Google has revealed that it will include a “suspected spam caller” label to its voicemail service Google Voice, alerting customers to spam calls.
Google claimed in a Workspace Updates blog post on Thursday that the label will help shield users from bothersome calls and potentially dangerous scams.
The user’s call history and the incoming call screen will both display the new label.
Users have the choice to “mark a marked call as not spam, after which the suspected spam label is never displayed for that number again,” or they can “confirm the suspected spam call, by which future calls from that number will go directly to voicemail.”
All Google Voice users have access to this function, which has no administrative controls.
In the meantime, last week, the tech giant launched a new “intelligent network switching” feature for Google Voice, which will seamlessly switch ongoing calls between cellular data service and Wi-Fi in an effort to improve the calling experience.
