Google has started testing advertising applications in the Play Store search space over history.
According to 9To5Google, after the change, the search field will display three applications that the user has never interacted with or searched for.
Only once the user type a letter or word then the user’s search history be displayed. The results of past searches will then be shown, followed by the suggestions for autocomplete.
It is still unclear “whether those applications paid to appear or whether they’re suggestions”, the report said.
Currently, when a user hits the search bar, the keyboard and the four most recent queries are displayed.
The tech giant had previously declared that it would upgrade the Play Store’s app listing capabilities for the coming year.
Earlier this year, the company presented the updates at its annual developer I/O conference.
Using the pictures, videos, and descriptions seen immediately in the Apps and Games Home, the tech giant was also rebuilding the Play Store for large screens.
According to Google, the goal of the content-forward strategy was to provide the apps in the store a better representation and assist consumers in choosing which ones to install.
