The shipment is going to be the company’s first major play in the next-gen phone as these phones are capable of fast wireless internet connection. The same is also expected to lay a foundation for a wide variety of new technological devices.
As per the reports, these phones will be made in three different models carrying a 5G modem chip from Qualcomm.
Earlier in April, Apple and Qualcomm settled their dispute, which accelerated the iPhone company’s plans of creating 5G phones.
In the past few years, the iPhone sales have dropped drastically, even the recent iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 pro failed to boost the sales as customers are waiting for a 5G phone.
On the technology front, Apple is running behind its competitor, Samsung as it has already released its 5G phones. But in the US, 5G networks are still extremely limited, providing few use cases for the technology just yet.
In recent years, Apple has been trying to shift investors’ focus from its sales units to services revenue, because most of the iPhone users cling to their phones for a long period. As a result, the company stopped breaking out unit sales for the phones and sang the praises of recurring subscription revenue.
